Earth Resource Group provides microbial investigation services to help you determine the nature and extent of your microbial problem. We collect samples of air and other media, including wallboard, flooring, insulation, and wood. Samples are also often collected from an outdoor area to compare outdoor conditions to conditions within the structure. The samples are analyzed by a qualified laboratory to determine the type of fungi that are present. The most common fungi found in structures following water intrusion are penicillium, aspergillus, and stachybotrys.
Following identification of the extent and nature of the problem, Earth Resource Group staff will recommend methods of remediation and abatement. Even though the extent of fungi present is relatively small and confined, a professional, licensed mold abatement contractor should do the work. For larger more widespread projects this may require relocation of building personnel while abatement work is ongoing.
To assure that all mold has been properly removed and is not an airborne hazard, Earth Resource Group staff return following abatement activities to perform a post remediation inspection and collect air (and possibly surface) samples to verify that the mold has been eradicated.
Our equipment includes state of the art air sampling pumps that can collect air from suspect contaminated areas and within wall and ceiling cavities. We also have equipment that allows us to look inside walls and measure the moisture content of various materials. This monitoring equipment is especially important as it can pinpoint suspect areas and reduce sampling time and cost.
